On 23rd May 2012, Catherine Jones Jewellery of Cambridge co-hosted a prestigious ‘Platinum’ event with Marshalls Jaguar and sponsored by Club 12a. Here is a taster with some spectacular pictures from the evening. Sensational platinum dresses, award-winning platinum jewellery loaned by the Platinum Guild International, two platinum jewellery designers and their work, and a specially concocted Platinum Punch, set against a back drop of some stunning and luxurious Jaguar sports’ cars, created the tone for an exceptional evening. Two remarkable platinum dresses – a wedding dress and a cocktail dress – were flown in especially from Italy for the evening. Each dress was woven in the finest platinum and silk thread. The wedding dress had intricate platinum and silk lace sewn into it and the full-length wedding veil trimmed with lace. Something that even the Duchess of Cambridge would be awe-inspired to wear! We would like to thank the Platinum Guild International and the Lonmin Design Innovation Awards for the loan of these exceptional pieces.

We also showcased eight pieces of exceptional Jewellery, by leading British Designers, winners of the Lonmin Design Innovation Awards, also loaned by the Platinum Guild International.

Alexander Davis – Quark Super Brooch

Anna Loucah – Dreaming Swan Ring

Anthony Roussel – Auctus Wrist-wear

Fei Lui – Kingfisher Earrings

Leyla Abdollahi – Amphitrite Ring

Zoe Harding – Neptunea Ring

Sarah Ho – Lianhua Earrings

Laura Strand – Tempus Pendant

We were thrilled to have two award-winning designers with us – Fei Liu and Alexander Davis. Thanks in particular go to Sarah Jordan, a former – and, no doubt, future LONMIN DIA winner – who unveiled a pendant she had designed and made in memory of the late Catherine Jones, founder of Catherine Jones Jewellery of Cambridge.

The pendant was unveiled at our event and is to be auctioned off at a later date for the benefit of the Catherine Jones Foundation (registered charity), the family’s charity. Catherine was born in India as was her father and it was where he died when she was a tiny child. She always had a yearning for the place and for her lost father. The focus of the work of the Catherine Jones Foundation is to build schools in India and to educate children who, otherwise, would have no future.

Thank you to all of our guests for attending and making this a very special event for all involved.
