Young people in Cambridge have been sending selfies of themselves to Catherine Jones of Cambridge – in a bid to land a gem of a job!
An advert was devised and sent out via the Varsity magazine, asking students to submit a picture of themselves in order to potentially become one of the jewellers ‘brand ambassadors’. Those chosen to be a Catherine Jones of Cambridge ambassador will be photographed by a professional photographer in the most beautiful parts of Cambridge, wearing Catherine Jones of Cambridge jewellery and exquisite clothes from a local Cambridge retailer.
Ambassadors will be able to use their professional shots as part of a portfolio, as well as receiving tickets to Cambridge events and some Catherine Jones pieces to keep.
Catherine Jones owner Vanessa Burkitt said: “The ambassadors will become part of our social media group, wearing jewellery and taking photographs of themselves which we will then post on Facebook Twitter and elsewhere. We think it’s a first. My own family’s heritage in the city goes back to the 16th century. In the modern era of relentless change and chain multiples, few independent retailers can claim 50 years of buoyant trading in one place and Catherine Jones of Cambridge is still be family-owned. This history means we have a large and loyal customer base, but we realise that as a brand and business
we cannot and must not become complacent in the marketplace. By showcasing our collections on the current ‘it girls and boys’ of Cambridge we can
are reinforcing our connections with the students who make this city so great.”
